先日小さい頃からかわいがってもらった

重田周作氏のアトリエへ遊びに行った。

彼の作品は私は大好きで、

しているとどこか気分が違う。

ikí-edokko swag projectの作家のうちの一人。

粋な生活、感覚を求めて。

アトリエにちょっとお邪魔したようすを。

a new project at jitensha studio is ikí- the edokko swag project.

(more on that later-

you may wonder what ikí means but

its an aesthetic and spirit born in old tokyo/edo.

 i believe it has a relative definition

so i hope to illuminate ikí

by touching on the things/actions/people that conjure it.)

this project came to be as i looked back at the last 30 years of jitensha studio.

we will be working with a few individuals

that embody a certain ikí spirit and outlook.

マエストロ指田。

この間、アメリカ人の友達に、

一昔前に聞いたことのある、

ソース顔と醤油顔のことを聞かれた。

英語で説明するのはとても難しい。

しかも、人種をこえて存在するのだろうか。

マエストロ指田は間違いなく

西洋の香りを漂わせている。

今でも、アランドロン、ダックスフンド、

厚切りの蜂蜜トースト、

手作りベーコンと言うと、この人を思い浮かべる。

でもやっぱり東京の香りはぬけない。

生活でしょうか、姿勢でしょうか。

江戸の精神なのでしょうか。

「江戸はここにある」を求めて。

最近、ikí-edokko swag プロジェクトの勉強に当たって、

やたら、江戸や職人について本を読んでいる。

欧米の人に「粋」は何って聞かれても、

なかなか自分でもなんとなくしか

理解できたないものを英語でうまく伝えるのに一苦労。

これについてはまた詳しく書くが、

自分の解釈では一部として、

肩に力が入っていない、楽な鋭い感覚、感性。

豊福師匠含めて、マエストロ指田とフォルムの達人小山氏に

粋なあり方を伺える。
